Home Woes Continue in Heat Despite several positive efforts on the road this season Palace still remains an enigma at home. In over 100 degree heat the Eagles fell to AC St. Louis 1-0. This is the second time Baltimore has succumbed to the league cellar-dweller. St. Louis seemed comfortable playing for the tie throughout the contest but seized their opportunity when it presented itself and took the full three point on the day. Crystal Palace was once again blanked on the scoreboard, a disturbing trend that is an unwelcome holdover from last season. Crystal Palace will have a week to mull over this defeat before returning to action again at the Maryland Soccerplex on July 31 against the Montreal Impact who will surely be looking for revenge after the Palace 2-1 triumph at Saputo Stadium.. |
Venue Changes Crystal Palace Baltimore home matches will no longer be held at UMBC. Remaining home matches will be at the Maryland Soccerplex in Germantown, MD (7/14, 7/24, 7/31, 8/4) and Paul Angelo Russo Stadium on the campus of Calvert Hall High School (all home matches after 8/4) in Towson, MD.

New Developments for Eagles Nest 1/19/10 With funding now secured from Baltimore City, Crystal Palace Baltimore and Developer Patrick Turner, the Maryland Stadium Authority will begin a feasibility study on the proposed stadiums for DC United at the Westport site and for Crystal Palace Baltimore at the Carroll-Camden Industrial area (intersection of Wicomico and W. Ostend St.) west of M&T Bank Stadium. While a projected completion date of the privately financed Crystal Palace Stadium is slated for 2012, DC United and MLS have yet to officially throw their weight behind a Baltimore stadium effort. For those who feel like giving the Stadium Authority a little nudge in approving the Crystal Palace Baltimore stadium effort their email is msa@mdstad.com. The conclusion of the feasibility study is expected in early Summer 2010. |

Blast Fall in Semis The Baltimore Blast could not overturn their first leg 22-14 loss in Monterrey as they followed up with their first ever loss to the LaRaza at First Mariner Arena 10-8 in overtime. An up and down campaign comes to a close and all eyes turn to preparation for the 2010-2011 MISL season and possible entry of new expansion teams. |

Palace UK Saved! Crystal Palace, who maintained their place in the Championship with a spirited tie on the last day of the season, now have provisional deals in place to allow the team to continue to operate in the future. A deal was reached by the 2010 Consortium to purchase the club as well as Selhurst Park. The Selhurst Park deal ran into extra time as the original 3P.M. deadline was extended with teh bank holding the Stadium loan seeking extra concessions on the potential future sale of the ground before agreeing to the sale. With several players already sold from the 2009-2010 squad next year's edition will feature some new faces from elsewhere or from Palace's Academy side. The positive note is that the ownership crisis seems to have passed and we can all look to the future! |

US National Team News The US Men begin their post-World Cup tour on August 10 at 8:00 P.M. versus Brazil at the new Meadowlands Stadium. Both sides fell short of their goals in South Africa and will be looking to put on a show in Northern New Jersey. The match can be seen on ESPN 2. In the final of a pair of matches with Sweden the US Women brought home a 3-0 victory in East Hartford, CT. Two tallies from Abby Wambach and one from Megan Rapinoe were enough as goalkeeper Hope Solo recorded her 50th shutout while wearing the red, white & blue. |
